The IQIC Quality Improvement Course seeks to help build capacity at participating institutions to apply the tools of quality improvement in their practices. As we know, poor outcomes faced in the post-operative period with respect to complications and infection are universal. With the tools of quality improvement, we aspire to:
This course is conducted in a remote learning format. It combines recorded lectures, quality improvement education, and final project presentations. Each team will be paired with a QI specialist who will serve as the team’s mentor. We are incredibly excited about this opportunity to collaborate with our sites and help them realize their quality improvement goals in a way that will have a real impact on outcomes for patients with congenital heart disease. The recorded webinars and webinar presentations are available on a private group on OPENPediatrics. Please email IQIC at IQIC@Childrens.Harvard.edu
The IQIC launched the Perfusion Course in 2017 which combined virtual webinars and in-person trainings at Boston Children’s Hospital. The goals of this course include:
In collaboration with Milagros para Niños, we were able to bring 15 Latin American perfusionists to Boston Children’s Hospital over the course of 5 weeks. During this time, our visits worked side-by-side with Boston Children’s perfusionists and had the opportunity to ask questions, tour our facilities, and network with other healthcare professionals. We believe the course was a great success, and hope to be able to continue to provide support for perfusionists around the world. The recorded webinars and webinar presentations are available on a private group on OPENPediatrics. Please email IQIC at IQIC@Childrens.Harvard.edu
